I try to generate videos for all FC1.1 Trainings Missions. The result is rubbish.

1. The textual instructions (upper right corner) sre always missing the following part (when there are more "pages" of text).

2. Instruments/ HUD are not readable

3. Sound is missing (only some noise is generated)

What settings should I use, when I create an AVI video?

Does LockOn do all the job or are there other tools needed (I mean NEEDED, not helpful)?

Thanks for help.

1. I dont think that text is so important... when you make the track movie anyone could just stop the playback and rewind a little if he missed one word or two. You do this by removing the text file from the track folder before recording.

Also that text will add a big load on the compressing task of the codec. That's because the codec will have to add more details (read bits of data) in that part of the screen as the text (subtitles, credits, etc) is tending to be very intricate detail to reproduce. The xVid codec had in is early days (if I remember corectly) a setting wher you specified where the credits (read the whole bunch of thext on a black background) starts because if you would fail to do that the credits would look rubish and unreadeble. That was because of the way the xVid codec analised the image... it could compress a normal image quite good but, because of the way it was doing it it couldn't "see" the small rows of letters "climbing" upwards :P .

2. This is because of your settings in the codec... what codec do you use and what are the settings?

3. Because Lock On is eating resources like a hungry dog :P is better that you use 1/4 speed and at a low FPS (10FPS is ok) when you record the image and without sounds. Then record the sounds in another pass with "sounds recorder" from windows par example. Then in virtualdub change the FPS to 40 and convert it back to 25 (it will drop 15 FPS from 40). In this way you will have smooth playback and it will permit you to record at a very high quality or/and resolution (depending on your rig) because of the small FPS you are asking from it in the first place (10). Then add the sound (in vaw format) in virtual dub (it will need some skill in cutting) or use a video editor (like windows movie maker) to do it visualy.

Also check your rig that it has no faulty audio drivers and in fraps (I supose you are using this one) what is the imput source to record... cause if you have the imput set as your audio card but with the source set to be the... mike :D ... those sounds are... you :). You should make shure the source for recording on your audio card is set on "what you hear" (this is on creative audio cards) or another setting name that defines just that :).

good luck.

Thank You for hints.

Hmmm... 'till now I'm using no tools... I use the "Record as AVI" function in LockOn itself. Tried serverals codecs and setting but all are the same rubbish. And because it uses nearly 4 hours for one recording (with rubbish results) therefore I ask here the experts.

zaelu: do I understand you right, that I HAVE TO use fraps (or similar tool)?

and: the text IS readable, but half of the text is missing...

But: what use of a trainings video, if the instructions are missing. Only in Ironhands commented videos you could ignore the text. But in all others the learning effect will be null if you don't have some explanations.
