Just a simple question...

How often can we expect updates ?

I now see that the BF-109K can be pre-paid...

I allready got the UH-1, MI-8, F-86F and FW-190D9, that all can be regarded as being beta (The UH-1 is release version, but I find that there are still items that makes it beta).

The UH-1, MI-8 and F-86F are developed by the ED partner Belsimtek, but progress on these betas are really slow in my opinion.

I hope that it will go quicker with the FW-190D9.

Bottom line is, that I don´t want to get into yet another beta with the BF-109K, if progress will be as slow as the other mentioned modules.

While I am not too happy with the way the Hip is treated atm and generally the way BST handles betas - at least lateley (i.e. yes, I am curious how they will deal with the Sabre), I would not really expect that the Fw190 will be out of beta when the Bf-109 hits the download servers.

Although those are stand alone products as any other DCS aircraft, they started out with something else in mind: "DCS WWII". So I somewhat expect tweaks and changes for all WWII aircrafts all along the way until all WWII aircrafts are developed. "Balancing" might be the wrong word here, but I think something along the lines will somehow be required.

If that necessarily means that all WWII aircraft have to remain in beta state until 2015 ... *shrug* ... but I don't expect them to be really finished until then.

Also, remember that DCS are the team behind the FW190, and not Belsimtek.

It is never easy to say when the next updates will be along. It is all down to having sufficient material to warrant an update and how quickly a solution is found. They tend to fix a number of issues with each update, and occasionally, an interim "Hot fix" is released if the problems warrant it. As far as I can see, the FW190 isn't plagued by any really pressing problems, so you can probably expect the next update to come along when one of the other new titles is released - in a couple of weeks according to latest news. Whether anything will be changed on the FW190 at that point is really anyone's guess.

Sorry it can't be answered more precisely, but I honestly don't think anyone but the developers will ever have a handle on that sort of issue.

Honestly I dont expect any set date or the like to be announced here.

While I know wich modulses ae developed by Belsimtek and wich are done by ED, I just feel it´s increasingly frustrating to see the very slow progress on especially the Beksimtek modules.

The MI-8 in particular stands out. The latest files that has been updated stems back from april 2014 and very little, apart from introducing new bugs, has been done.

I really want to back ED and 3rd party developers by buying their products, also if it+s beta, but since we actually have paid for them, I think it´s fair to expect a certain progress.

Maybe the price, the day it will be released will be even lower than what we pre-paid, since it´s allready regarded as an older module.

In my opinion, modules should not be released before the developers has a certain believe that it can be finished into a release version within 6 month.

If more developement is needed, then we are talking Alpha rather than Beta versions and alpha versions should really never be released in public.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it is wildly inaccurate regarding Belsimtek only upgrading by introducing new bugs! At least - according to you, it only happens every 4 months, so that's a small mercy I guess.

The stuff that is released in beta form is welcomed by a large number of people, and knowing it is a beta release naturally means it is not yet the finished article. Bear in mind too that organisations like Belsimtek are not huge, and have very limited resources. Add to that the possibility that some of the problems may be far from easy to fix.

There is nothing stopping you from waiting until the full release comes onto the market before buying. Given your apparent dissatisfaction with the Mi8, you still went ahead and added the F-86F to your collection. I wonder why when you have such a strong dislike of beta releases?

If you see no problem with the progress of the Mi-8 module, then, well, yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But anyhow, I think, we should not discuss BST here as this thread is about EDs Fw190 - referring to the Mi-8 was just done to put the thoughts here into some context, imho.

I doubt the 109 will have as many problems as the 190 but you never know till it arrives. If you know its something you will purchase go ahead and get it with the discount knowing it can have some bugs. These aircraft are no where near the complexity of helicopters or modern jets so most of the bugs seem to be graphic or damage model in nature and generally aren't game breaking or required functional systems.
