rami80 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I was thinking about how hard it would be to make a Su-27SM model after the Su-27 PFM comes out, so I have some questions about the differences -Did they change the location of the IRST or was that only done to the SU-35? -Are there any changes to the airframe or engine? -Was the radar warning system changed, and the radar itself? -Was a radar placed in the tail boom? -What do the MFDs display? What other known significant differences are there?
Shaman Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 More reasonable thing to do would be Su-30K, because it is commercial and exported to many countries, more sources more accessible to research I believe... 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
rami80 Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 While that is true, the Su-30 has a crew of 2. Besides the fact DCS does not yet support that, the front of the plane is larger and that might require tweaking the flight model(which is beyond my skill)
NOLA Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 -Did they change the location of the IRST or was that only done to the SU-35? Well, comparing pictures would sort that question, wouldnt it? -Are there any changes to the airframe or engine? Nothing substantial, pretty much to increase the service life. Second batch of Su-27SM's had uprated engine. -Was the radar warning system changed, and the radar itself? Yes and yes. -Was a radar placed in the tail boom? lol no -What do the MFDs display? Things & stuff. :)
