Fri13 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 ED have already hinted that if the F-15 became a full fat module, it would be an additional purchase. So yeah, it would be just like that. How else would the module pay for itself? F-15C got PFM upgrade and was free for every FC3 owner, but it became as standalone module as well for low price for those who just want it. PFM != interactive cockpit Su-27 is getting its PFM upgrade, and it will as well be free for FC3 owners and it as well will be a standalone release for low price for those who want just it. IF F-15C or Su-27 would get interactive cockpit and all systems like in A-10C does (KA-50 is like 80-90% modeled and simulated), then it would be needed to be removed from FC3 and bring as standalone upgrade and cheap key update to those who already had it. Otherwise we should have a SFM, PFM and PFM+Interactive modules there. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Fri13 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 You couldn't fly the Su-27 before a standalone module (or FC) came out, so nothing changed for the end user. You can drive the Abrams without the standalone module - it would be unlikely, that this would change with it's release. Su-27 was original LoMac plane.... Flyable. It belongs to LOMAC and FC series that later became DCSWorld. You didn't ever buy any module or game so you could watch AI to fly them as observer. Now CA is own module, not just a AI in DCS. People bought CA module to command and operate ground vehicles, like they did to buy FC3 or A-10C or any module to fly those planes. And having some players with Payware benefit to drive (or fly) a vehicle would not be a good act toward those who bought the capability to operate and command vehicle in first place and gave money to developers improve the CA in the first place. It would be like - "hey here is a module to control ground units, costs just xx amount." - "Cool! I buy one or two modules of that!" - "we are updating a module and now on you need to buy individual vehicles to operate them now on." - "..." - "profit!" i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.

An M1A1 module would (presumably) be the land equivalent of an ASM+PFM aircraft, therefore the F-15 PFM example isn't really applicable. The FC3 PFMs and 3D cockpits were given as a freebie because people had paid for the F-15/SU27 several times over (Lock On, FC1, FC2, FC3) without much changing. It's been hinted at by ED that an ASM F-15 would be an additional purchase, and therefore this is the most useful precedent to look at. Given you acknowledged that an F-15 ASM upgrade would be a paid upgrade (with perhaps a discount for FC3 owners), I'm not sure what your objection is? CA owners are unaffected and can continue in Wonder Woman mode, new module owners (whether by fresh purchase or by upgrade) get the cool toys.... We will soon have our first module with multiple levels of fidelity (Hawk SFM vs EFM), no reason a ground module couldn't have the same. Do you know what is current problem with AI flying same plane as you but against you? AI has always SFM = it can pull stunts that you can't with AFM/PFM and it isn't as vulnerable for damage either. When you model something, it should be to everyone (CA owners) not just for those who paid more for "more toys". Like thermal imagine systems, hunter killer capability, vehicle acceleration speeds, stabilization, firing computer systems etc etc. Could everyone get those benefits, or just those who paid more to get more? It is then at that point a payware, pay to get perks. It would be like someone flying a FC3 SFM plane against you with PFM and could pull G-forces you can't anymore. Or otherwise around. Same plane but different modeling. Not fair at all. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Devil 505 Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Hey guys, Just saw this post pop up again I started a while back. I hate to see it has become a bash thread. The reality of ED and the quality they produce, as well as the third party devs, require time and money. It is insane to think these modules should be included with DCS world or any other module for free. This post was meant to see if there had been any updates on the M1, not to bash the company or challenge their ability to produce a module. I would much rather see the moderator pull this post if we can not get back on track with the subject. We all have opinions and I respect that, but lets stay optimistic about ED's ability to provide us with modules and technology we have yet to see. Regards Robert
