lanmancz Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Hello, I'd really like to be able to put whatever unit to any nation I choose. I understand that Russian F15 might not be terribly realistic but ultimately a mission designer should be able to choose which units he wants to use on either side. This can be done already by using scripts/editing the mission file manually. It would be nice however if the mission editor didn't limit the choice of units by nation. Flogger23m Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I have a similar, although (IMO) better ideas: 1) Add two fictional nations which have all units. This way we can have one for each team (by default). Obviously, the mission designer does not have to utilize them. Name them "MISC Country 1" and "MISC Country 2". For skins, use the real country skins. Perhaps making all country skins available would be ideal. 2) Remove random units from real countries (Canadian KA-50s, ect.) to make it less confusing when it comes time to make authentic missions. 3) Add the ability to change coalitions at a later time in the mission editing process. This was possible pre-FC2 but it was removed in later versions of the editor.
lanmancz Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Yeah the idea of Red/Blue nation with all units available is probably best I just though adding a whole new country would be harder to do then allowing existing ones to use whatever unit is in the game already. But yeah, that's a good idea too. Thanks for suggestion. Exorcet Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 2) Remove random units from real countries (Canadian KA-50s, ect.) to make it less confusing when it comes time to make authentic missions. This I disagree with. Options should never be narrowed down. If people want to worry about authentic units, then list those nations in the editor or have them colorded differently in a nation's unit drop down list depending on whether or not they're in use. Having units available to nations even if they don't use them is useful for many things. DCS is not and shouldn't be limited to historical conflicts. Also, captured units and defection is a possibility/reality in many wars Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
