Flagrum Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 @Fri13: just to make sure I got it now: you trim the helo for a specific attitude and after some time flying and maneuvering around, when you try to archieve the same attitude as before, the last trimmed stick position is not sufficient anymore. Instead you need to apply additional input. Hrm. Again, never experienced this. But maybe I re-trim too often so I would not notice? (i.e. maybe I would not notice that, although the same attitude, the stick positions differ - as I trimmed already inbetween). Would like to hear other pilot's experiences here ... and I will try to replicate this issue. Interesting. :o)
SnowTiger Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Thanks for the VAC and Abris info you provided here StrongHarm. The Abris is a complicated but useful tool. I have been reading and re-reading the Manual re: Abris to program routes but I have not translated any to the PVI yet. I will start doing that when I start the JTAC Training. BTW - I'm glad for a Trim Reset button. While I have not had a similar need since I got my new X-55 (only days ago ... still have a bunch of odd things happening which I cannot yet overcome), but with my last Hotas, I used the Trim Reset Often. There were many times when I either forgot to Center my Stick fast enough OR when I would still have a foot on a Rudder Pedal only to find I had Zero Control over the BS. When you are in a Death Dive and have no controls, it can be a bit concerting. But having the ability to get that control back in an instant using the Trim Reset is a life saver .... assuming you don't tear the props off the second you hit it, resulting in an immediate and significant Nose-Up Attitude !!). StrongHarm Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 Laser standby is situated on the mic hat along with hardpoint selection.. so you can quickly select your hardpoint then activate laser intuitively. The only time I don't have the laser in standby is when I'm actually ranging or there's ordinance in flight. I've rearmed several times in a single mission without burning it out using this method. :). This is a nice appeal to authority in the first post BUT you must think in Russian. Most important thing to do in a Blackshark is to NOT burn the laser out. Laser standby button cannot be on a hat switch. You must drill a new hole in your throttle and add a red button just for this. Everything else is fine. SnowTiger Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) One more thing StrongHarm - Did you or have you ever tried "Windows Speech Recognition" prior to or since using VAC ? If so, how do they compare ? Especially considering Window SR is Free ! EDIT >> After reading the Thread re: VOC, It appears that VOC requires the use of Windows Speech Recognition. I was thinking that using WSR alone was basically the same thing. Obviously that was an incorrect assumption. That said, I have used WSR in a few different games and programs (or at least experimented) where it appeared to work well for Selecting Menus and Commands etc. Edited October 26, 2014 by SnowTiger Additional Info Found SnowTiger AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - Zen 4 16-Core 4.5 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI 6E Socket AM5 (LGA 1718) Ryzen 7000 gaming motherboard Geforce RTX 4090 Gaming Trio X - 24GB GDDR6X + META Quest 3 + Controllers + Warthog Throttle, CH Pro Pedals, VKB Gunfighter MKII MCG Pro G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo Series 64 GB RAM (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 RAM
StrongHarm Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 VAC actually uses the WSR engine. It just makes it A LOT easier to capture and organize profiles, add sleep commands, create multi-commands split by millisecond delay, etc. It's the design interface that VAC provides that makes all the difference. It's nice that you can just type some text and choose a key command that corresponds, then just use it. Without training it or any other modification, I can create a profile and talk with my pipe in my teeth and it still picks up the connection between my voice, the command profile, and the corresponding key command. It's a great tool made by an individual who stands by his product. I didn't mind at all paying the reasonable cost for such a useful app. We must support good devs so they'll continue to provide good code. When you use the profile, be aware that since some of the radio commands are contextual, they won't work properly if you're already in the middle of another contextual communication flow (startup / take off for instance). I plan on altering the multi-commands where ever this is possible to clear the flow (F11 string) before issuing a command, but have to find the time to do it. :) Be sure to use the handy key I provide later in the post. I should edit the OP and add this image. It's also attached in Excel format within the ZIP file. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you run into issues. SnowTiger Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Thanks a Ton StrongHarm. I will most certainly purchase this software and give it a try. Of course, I'll do the 14 day trial first, but the Cost of this software is Very Reasonable. I also appreciate the Charts you have included. Things like that can save people like me a ton of time. Even if we don't use it exactly as shown, it is a great example to work from. Now I can only hope I can first resolve my Hotas issues very, very soon so I can take advantage of this next step towards total SIM immersion. Thanks again. SnowTiger Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 PS> I'm just trying to take advantage of every tip and piece of information I can get Before I sink my teeth into this new software. SO, Where you have written the word "Repeat" or "Repeat 2" etc, exactly what are you referring to ? Does this mean, Repeat the Function or Repeat the Phrase or what ? OR if this is something that will become Obvious once I get setting it up .... Just say ,, It'll be Obvious ... and I'll figure it out myself when the time comes. StrongHarm Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 The key command repeats to get to a further stage in the command. For instance, Datalink Mover Four does the command to select the first mover, then 'repeats' until it arrives at the fourth. SnowTiger Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Now I get it. Very Cool. Thank you kindly. I am most certainly going to try this out. Thanks again. SnowTiger Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 PS> I did purchase VAC. It is very Inexpensive and therefore well worth trying. I love the idea of "dictating" voice/radio commands (having been a Dragon Naturally Speaking user from the early or mid 1990's). I hope to read up and start programming (setting up) VAC over the next week or so. StrongHarm Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 Yeah, I'm really pleased with the app. Be sure to check out my prepared VAC profile. If you create all the possible wingman commands, there's quite a lot of them. My profile will at least be a solid foundation. Luck to you. PS> I did purchase VAC.
