wingshigh.g Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Just want to see how others are setting up the TM warthog to manage the TDC. I set it up on the little nimble with up/down/left/right and press on the throttle, but I find it to be very difficult to move accurately, obviously this is bad when you have multiple bandits coming at you and close in fast. How are you setting this up?
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 same way for me, but a very big deadzone for the axes. 85 i think and only 15 or 17 percent sensetivity [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 right. Don't quote me too much on the exact numbers, they are from memory, but maybe start from there and experiment a little. It's absolutly doable. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
Azrayen Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 As I use a TARGET profile, I do this in TARGET. Advantage: one setting fits all FC aircraft (shared profile). It just leaves me to assign each axis for each aircraft in DCS (as usual). Remark: I set the sensitivity so low that I can't assign those 2 axis by using (moving) them. I have to pick them up via the drop down list. From memory it's RX and RY from Thrustmaster Combined.
Azrayen Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Back @ home, here are my values in TARGET GUI: SCX & SCY Center deadzone: 1 Zoom: -3 Curve: 3 SCY only Reverse axis: checked Enjoy, Az'
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 for the TDC i got the best results by doing axes 1:1 in target and then making deadzones and sensitivity ingame. If you set the sensitivity too low in TARGET the game doesn't register all the movement because of some of the output values being too low. Besides the game now stores your settings in the .diff file so they are not lost after each update or repair anymore. wingshigh.g Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Azrayen, tried your set up, still felt too sensitive, always got the over movement; Svend_Dellepude, what do you refer to as sensitivity in Target?
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I think they TARGET calls it zoom. in DCS its called saturation, same thing. Anyway i leave the ministick axes on the throttle at their default and configure them in DCS. As mentioned in an earlier post DCS needs a certain amount of output from the ministick to recognize movement, so you will get the smoothest response that way. wingshigh.g Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Tried again today still no joy to me. I have set the zoom in Target to the far left still doesn't work well for me. I mean it is just not easy to make fine movement of the TDC. This will certainly be a problem if the bandits are close to each other. Svend_Dellepude, once I start Target, I am not able to set the axis in DCS control panel, am I missing anything?
wingshigh.g Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Today as I thought about Svend_Dellepude approach again and realized what I didn't understand correctly; went on the computer and did it the right way and it worked so mic better. Thanks guys!
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Welcome! I'm glad you got it working. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
DGC338 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Also I got a tip from an ex RL fighter pilot who said not to use the finger tip to try to move the TDC. Use the middle 1/3 of your middle finger. I tried it and with the correct sensitivities it work really well. Seems a little weird but he said that it how the real ones are designed and that lots of RL pilots initially have trouble over controlling the TDC because they try to use the tip instead of the middle 1/3. Once I tried it my control level improved dramatically. Position of the throttle low on a box instead of like me up on the desk could also help. Would be great though if the warthog one was like the real TDC switch.
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Dunno why they didn't make the TDC a 8 way hat instead of what we have now. IMHO control would be easier. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
