Of late I've been occasionally getting program crash (either mid-flight or when ending flight), with program restarting on its own, with the error message "Cannot open debriefing file".

Ran the Repair option and it would seem to fix the issue for sometime, only to occasionally coming back again.

Any idea what could be the cause? Any fix, especially about the opening of debriefing file?

Avio,

provide the logs and crash reports from within DCS and someone might be able to help you.

With vague "my DCS crashes" there is not much to advise but guess into the blue.

Mind you, DCS does crash sometimes for all of us, and the reason why there is a crash report tool is so that we can provide those logs to the developers....

So, grab your logs and post them when it crashes again. They are in your saved games folder under DCS...

Trying to upload one .crash and another .dmp files but could not. Are these the right files?

Yes. Also add me.log and dcs.log as well.

Put all the files into a ZIP archive and upload that.

Here they are, zip in folder. Kindly help check.

Now the crashes are getting worse, sometimes less than a minute into game. Can happen at any point, any moment. Done repairs, but no help.

Getting very annoying, makes me miss the good old FSX where I came from. Got a ton of payware add-ons there, A2A, Dodosim, FTX, ... gosh should I go back, or stick with DCS, which I've come to like so much. Still thinking of buying the Mi-8. But with those crashes (never happened before for the 2 - 3 years I've been flying the A-10C), it's getting very frustrating.

I am no DCS Crash Log Guru and thus I may misinterprete your reports but I would start with another Graphics Card driver, maybe 1 version older or a newer beta.

I think it originates from the graphic section, maybe driver and settings related. You may well try a few basic settings in DCS and turn off 1 or the other GFX effect and watch what happens.

It's very likely not DCS causing this but a combination of hardware and drivers that somehow doesn't like what DCS calls for, for whatever reason.

Maybe a developer can have a look and spot an indicator for more precise info, as I said, to my best knowledge, no guaranty :)

I would agree with BitMaster here, seems to be GPU related in the widest sense.

Do the crashes occur when something special happens? I am thinking here about big explosions or something like that? (.crash log: "CreateEffectEx")

I am no GPU or hardware expert, but I heared of cases where the sudden workload to render such larger effects caused problems with the power consumption / voltage. Perhaps your power supply unit can't handle it?

Another thing to check would be probably if the GPU is overheating in general. There are tools available for displaying the temp sensors of your main board and your GPU (i.e. SpeedFan).

And the last thing that I can think of atm would be overclocking the GPU which may cause strangest errors if it is overdone.

I think, one of the hardware gurus around here should have a look at this. Please post your system specs and add the output of DxDiag as well.

I think you folks are spot on ... ran a latest Nvidia driver update and the program seems to run fine now. Hope it stays that way.

This forum is lucky to have you dedicated fellows around. Thanks a bunch !
