JayPee Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I just got my new rig up and running and guess what.. Well, topic title says all. Can somebody guide me step by step through the process? I want to deactivate all modules on my old machine (to which I don't have access anymore so please don't ask me to do anything on it) and reactivate them on the new one. Currently -on the new one- it doesn't let me deactivate, nor reactivate.. i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory
Flagrum Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Afaik you can only deactivate on the original system. If you don't have access to that anymore, you can only activate on the new rig - which means you will "lose" one activation. Why does activating on your new machine not work? What happens, what errors occur?
JayPee Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 I can't because I took the SSD out, formatted it, and put it in the new rig. I didn't think getting a game to run in 2014 would be such a hassle tbh... Can't I just login somewhere and then deregister all known hardware from my serial numbers? i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory
JayPee Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 It seems though that somebody at least took the effort to move this topic, would that same person also be so kind to provide a solution? i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory
cichlidfan Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 You should still be able to activate the products. You will just use up another activation. I don't think there is anything you can do without access to the old machine. JayPee Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 It doesn't let me activate the module on the new rig anyway.. Regardless whether I could've touched the old one or not.. i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory
cichlidfan Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 What is the error message? I haven't been in the situation in years but I once did something similar with the standalone A-10C and had no problem activating again. JayPee Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Upon starting an A10 mission the pop up asks for the key after which it says automatic activitaion failed. I then click the "other" hyperlink which shows the key I entered in the previous window + a hardware code (which is obviously different than the one on the previous rig). I click the link to the Star Forge website where I enter the key and the hardware code again, only to recieve a red error box with no message in it. i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory

cichlidfan Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 (edited) Done. Guess this is where the 5 working days timer starts... On the bright side, Thanksgiving is not a holiday there. ;) EDIT: It might be somewhat useful to post your ticket number here, so this thread and your ticket can be tied together.
