BitMaster Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Hey fellow Pilots, I am taking a whole server rack down and many of the parts I can have for free :))) i7 2600k Memory as much as I can put in ( so maybe only 12 GB will be doable for now ) Asus P8P67 Mainboard Corsair 750W PSU Adaptec Raid Controllers 4-Port, 16 Port and 20 Port, YAYAYA !!! HW-Raid 4 x 2TB Enterprise Sorage drives 2 x 500GB " " drives sadly no SSD :( a cheap Video card to get started installing Windows All I need to add is maybe some more RAM ( need 16 min. ) and a decent 970 or 980 GTX later this years and a 850 Pro SSD 256GB. Yippie Yippie Yippie !!! We get a new child and money is directed towards that so kitchen command will only allow this rig to be completed but no new one to be bought....well, I can live with that. I wanna get a Corsair WC, 100i or so, to OC that 2600k to like 4GHz ;)))) Bit Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
BitMaster Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Will 970/980 work/boot in a P67 chipset with PCIe 2.0 ???? If not, I may end up buying a more recent board for the 2600k that sports PCIe 3.0, would not be all that bad but if it works it saves some money for now. Any info on that ? Bit should boot, BUT, you need intel 3xxx series cpu to have proper PCIe 3.0 and different MB. i got 2600k too and "PCIe 3.0 ready" MB, 780Ti is running in PCIe 2.0 mode. from what i've heard, the difference in perfomance between PCIe 2 and 3 in gaming is marginal. don't worry you have a good deal there.
