Hello,

I have tried searching for a solution to my problem on the internet and this forum, but I haven't had any luck, so maybe someone can help. My issue is that when I have my warthog connected (via TARGET), when I start the F-15c engines either with the keyboard or the warthog, the tail rudder will skew to the right or left. Luckily the skew goes away when I get airborne, but it can make taxiing and takeoff a bear. It doesn't happen if my TM profile isn't running. The other issue that happens when my TM profile is running (and the two may be related) is that the engine does not stop at idle once completely started, the RPM climbs past 70%. I can correct this by pushing throttle forward and then pulling back while it is spoiling up. I notice this makes the F15C nozzle open fully as well. I figure this maybe has something to do with my throttle calibration, but I don't know why the rudder would skew. The rudder still functions as normal, but rather than center, it skews right or left. I could adjust with trim, but if I do, when it goes back after takeoff, I would have to readjust. I have been trying to solve on my own for several days with no luck. I have made sure the rudders are not controlled by any axis and only controlled by z and x, so I don't know what would effect them. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

It's a bug in the CAS of the FM reacting to winds on the ground, so if you turn off wind at low alt in the mission editor it doesn't happen.

It's not hardware related. don't worry! :)

Svend,

Thank you so much for the quick reply. If a bug, I'm surprised I couldn't find anything about it, but maybe my wording was wrong in the search. Great to hear it isn't hardware related. Maybe I will just deal with it or maybe I will do as you suggest and turn off wind at low alt. Thank you again!

Svend,

I read. Thank you. This is definitely the issue I am having. I haven't noticed the cockpit buffeting or the AOA light, but I'm new to DCS and just back to flight sims after a long absence and I'm way rusty. Think Falcon 4.0 and LoMac. LOL!

Can you tell me what CAS is? I only know it as close air support, but in the context you mention it and how I read it in the other thread, it sounds like something related to flight computer.

Also, do you know if ED is planning to fix this issue or are they meaning to model this? I wouldn't mind dealing with ground level winds, but this seems a little extreme, but what do I know. I'm not a real pilot. Seems odd too that I don't seem to have the issue when not running my TM profile and merely using the in game controls, but maybe I just never noticed or got lucky with no wind. ???

Thanks again!

CAS - control augmentation system. Basically the computer which translates your stick input to control surface deflections depending on the state of the aircraft (think G-limiter, elevator-aileron coupling, envelope protection, etc.)
