Warthog + Extension mounting ideas?

Inspired by the currently-running X-55 mounting suggestions post: I just purchased a 20cm warthog extension, which feels about right when the top of the stick base is level with the top of my desk chair cushion. I'm not planning to build an ACES seat or anything similar in the short term, so I figure I'm down to cutting a wooden box, weighting the bottom, and screwing the WH base (cylindrical part) onto it.

 

Has anyone built up anything like this? Care to share photos? I'm going to be designing in CAD to laser-cut, but inspiration is always helpful.

It is all wood, with the main vertical column being 3 sections of 2x4" studs glued together.
