Adding a Huey style copilot to th Ka50?

First of all, this mod is intended for OFFLINE SP mode only. Having said that, my question is:

 

- Can I add a virtual copilot capable of aiming the gun, finding and locking the Skhval? Just like the Huey copilot can do right now.

And what would "you" do? Sit on that virtual copilot's virtual lap to just pilot the helo? :D

 

Anyway, I can't think of a viable approach to this. It is probably possible to do that, technically. But the necessary programming would be extensive - especially if it has to be done as a mod, "from the outside" so to say, as you would have no direct access to all the necessary data.

 

But I am curious if one of the more experienced modders could come up with an idea of how to do this.

That would be extremely challenging, but technically possible. The AI could be run as a separate program with extensive computer vision capabilities for visually recognizing instrument states and target types. IFF with tags off would be difficult because Georgia and Russia operate the same equipment. Edited December 21, 2014 by VincentLaw

It would proably easier to develop a new Ka-50 from scratch which has this capabilities ... ;o)

 

OR we wait for the multi-crew capability that ED is implementing atm. Maybe then DCS can be tricked to treat the helo as multi-seat capable and to place the regular AI into one of these faked cockpits while the human sits in the other one.
