Hello dont know if this has ever been suggested or discussed here already.

But what about the option of Arming the Mig 21 with the Aim9.

As most of u know the K-13 missile (AA2-Atoll) Was a copy of the Aim9 missile

to the point where they where more or less compatible with eachother and u could even switch parts between them and they would still work (depending on missile versions ofc)

 

So what about Giving the Mig 21 the option of using the Aim9 (Aim9P atleast)

Since we know it could be done.

 

For example.

Finland Operated Mig21Bis armed with R-60s And K-13 missiles but at the same time they also operated the Swedish Saab J35 Armed with Swedish Made Rb24J missiles (Aim9P3 Licence built in sweden) and Swedish made Aim4s with the designation Rb 28.

 

So they Tried switching between them and found that the Mig21 Was able to carry the Aim9 without any problems and the same with the J-35 and the K-13 missiles.

 

Would be even more awsome if u could use the Aim9M since that would make the mig-21 alot deadlier but i dont know if the Aim9M needs additonal systems on the aircraft side over the Aim9P.

 

Anyways this is just something ive been thinking about latley so i thought ask.

There is a mod out that let you carry the AIM-9M and P on the F-86. They fire (and hit) without any problem, so For the MiG-21, it should be possible too!
