Question: how to let 3 position switch on thrustmaster Cougar and warthog work as 3

AS title, my question is

how to let 3 position switch on thrustmaster Cougar and warthog work as 3 key?

As default, for all 3-position switchs on thrustmaster controllers , only up-position and down-position (or, forward-positon and backward-position)can be identified by PC as 2 key.

How can we change this, let the middle positon be recognized and work as one key?

I will read the manual carefully later, but this is the first question come to my mind and the first edit I eager to do. Could you tell me How to do or how to index in manual?

T.A.R.G.E.T ? which section in the manual ?

is T.A.R.G.E.T the only way to do?

if not, in DCS, how ?

Deeply appreciate!

Am I right?

At T.A.R.G.E.T manual page 38, "press and release" ??

but i don't understand manual's word the key? the button? bla bla bla

and what should I pay attention and be careful?

Thanks alot

There is no way you can define them in DCS via the provided gui. You could edit the config files (there are some threads on this forum that explain how to do that), but then they will be restored to the original version by the updater when a new version of DCS comes out.

Your best bet is to use TARGET where you can define different commands for the press and release of a button or switch.

For a 3 position flaps switch you would define:

FLAPU press = flaps up

FLAPU release = flaps middle

FLAPD press = flaps down

FLAPD release = flaps middle

thank you for respond

I am new for TARGET software, sorry

in TARGET window, where should I set option or type "FLAPU press = flaps up

FLAPU release = flaps middle

FLAPD press = flaps down

FLAPD release = flaps middle"in??

and, do you mean, useing TARGET, I don't need worry about DCS update anymore? And the change to those 3-positon switches will keep work in other simulation games.

If without TARGET edit, only change DCS gui, changes will be ereased by update?

and a freshman question, what is gui??

Thanks

I fear you need to read the instructional manual for TARGET. Defining commands and assigning them is explained very well in there.

to your other questions:

A gui is a graphical user interface - I meant the controls assignment you can do in DCS itself. If you change things there it will not be overwritten by the updates but you can't assign the middle position of the 3 position switches.

Using TARGET will give you the opportunity to assign 3 functions to the 3 position switches that will not be overwritten by DCS updates.
