artforsha Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Ok, I posted this earlier in another part of the forum by mistake, so forgive me if you have read it. I have Flaming Cliffs 3 and I am completely unable to get the AGM-65 to lock on to the right target. I'm flying the A-10A and select (7) for Air to Ground and then select the AGM-65D. I magnify the seeker image and move the reticle over the target area and hit (ENTER) to stabilize. I then try to fine tune it by moving it over a target but it keeps just snapping back to a building, or a bridge or anything else that is close by and saying "Shoot! Shoot!" By the time I get it to stop tracking what I don't want it to track I get shot out of the sky. This is completely frustrating as I've tried to complete even the first A-10 mission for two days! Any help would be appreciated as I'm about an inch away from hanging my head in shame and just sticking with MSFS. Art
outlawal2 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 What exactly are you trying to target? Remember that the seeker defines the target by the contrast level and that is probably why it is grabbing other targets.. It isn't "seeing" your target and grabs the ones it can see.. What are you trying to target? "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO
artforsha Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 I'm trying to target the 3 T-72 MBTs and maybe that pesky SPAA nearby that keeps tearing me up on the first campaign mission in the A-10A. They are visible on the screen but the seeker will not stay on them.
outlawal2 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Yeah my guess is you are having issues with the contrast level not being high enough for the seeker to lock.. Try flying in to the target from different directions until you get better contrast on the target.. "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO
Bunyap Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 It sounds like you are doing everything correctly and I remember having that same problem during the mission. The tanks are very close to other objects so I had to try coming in from different angles, either from the water or the hills, in order to lock them up. You also might try setting up the shot from a higher altitude to help stay out of the AAA if you get too close. Again, I believe you are doing it correctly but here is a video just in case:
Ulanthorn Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I have the same issue in the A-10A with the AGM-65D. It simply does not lock no matter what you do.
Kubiz Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hi guys. Seeing this thread here I am asking for help or advice too. The thing is that I am unable to lock ships with AGMs. No matter what version of AGM i use I can´t lock it on any ship. I can lock any other target (vehicles, etc.) just fine but as I said i can´t lock any ship. Shall I try to do something specific to get AGM to the launch mode or AGMs just can´t lock on ships in this game? Exorcet Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 The A-10A uses simple system modeling, so that might be the root of the problem. The DCS A-10C has a force correlate feature for locking oversized targets, but the 10A lacks this I think. Kubiz Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) OK but can anyone from ED confirm that this is the case? I actually can lock the ship - sometimes. I mean I can fly to it from one direction and I lock it. Then I try it from another directions and I can´t lock it. So I try to fly to it from the direction it worked in the first place but surprisingly it doesn´t lock the ship again. So I try again and again the same way it locked for the first time but it doesn´t lock the ship anymore. It is really weird and it dissapoints me of course. I still hope that I am doing something wrong and some good soul here may explain to me what it is. And BTW I try to lock only ships that are not moving... edit: ok so this is maybe the question for the support becouse I play with my friend now which has FC3 also and he can lock any ship with A10A armed with AGM-65D on demand. He can fly to the ships in any angles grom any directions and from any height and he just locks them and shoots them. I can try over and over again and just lock them every 5th try that I make. So I just fly there trying to lock ships for 2 hours while he is rearming and shooting ships whenever he desires. Other interesting thing is that whenever I fly to the ground area I can lock anything I want on the ground just like he can....:-/ Edited February 8, 2015 by Kubiz GIGABYTE Z390 GAMING X | i5 9600k @4.7 GHz | Noctua NH-U14S | MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti @OCed | Patriot 32GB DDR4 2666MHz | 1TB SSD + 1TB HDD | Win10 | Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog + WarBRD | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals | 1440p AOC Q2790PQU
