Hey. I know that the F-15 has a total of 120 degrees of scan zone 60 degrees left and 60 degrees right. Does the F-15 have elevation gimbal limits? Like 60 degrees up and 60 degrees down.

and... is there a visual indication that communicates to you that the radar contact is approaching the vertical gimbal limit?

(( ps.. to answer your question, "yes" there are elevation gimbal limits - and i believe they are similarly +/- 60-deg ))

The F-15 has vertical limits. I don't remember what the angles are, but there are altitude limits of 61,000 ft and 0 ft. If something is flying at 62000 ft, you can't lock it no matter what I believe.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

are there any indications in the cockpit that show if you are approaching a vertical gimbal limit??

That's just a display limit, and I'm not sure if it's correct.

It certainly does seem like a fatal flaw when you try to shoot down a Kh-22 in the sim, but then again I guess that would be the F-14's job.

yeah, i ask the question because i don't see any way to know if you're about to loose a low- or high-flyer

would be nice to have such an indication

would be nice to know if the real jet has that......
