kontiuka Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming this switches between free gyro mode (degaussed) and magnetized. If so, shouldn't the HSI eventually correct itself to magnetic heading? What does "Bru jula" actually stand for anyways?
E111Virus Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 "Brujula" is the Spanish name for "Compass"
kontiuka Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 "Brujula" is the Spanish name for "Compass"Thanks. Guess google translate dropped the ball on that one.:) Now for my other question.
Tango Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 There appears to be a bug relating to earth rate precession. It seems it is swamping the sync system (earth rate is greater than sync rate) so overall it is resulting in gyro drift over time. Best regards, Tango.

Can you please explain briefly what the 2 modes of that switch are supposed to do? I was just guessing how they work and not really sure. Thx much.
Tango Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 * Sync: synchronizes the gyro compass to a flux gate, with the sync system attempting to ensure that gyro drift is compensated by resetting the gyro compass to magnetic heading * Free gyro: the gyro compass acts as a free gyro, and so will suffer full earth-rate precession, and will require manual re-alignment to magnetic heading often by the pilot Best regards, Tango.
