kontiuka Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Just tried this with the Tu-22 but it seems when you specify a waypoint speed in the mission editor, the AI will fly just short of that speed even if they are capable of flying faster. In the attached track, I specified a speed of 600 kts but the Tu-22 kept at 599 kts, afterburners raging and probably wasting fuel unnecessarily.speed wall.trk
kontiuka Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Did a few more tests with the Tu-160, Su-24, and Su-25 and none of them have this problem. Maybe it's isolated to the Tu-22.
Exorcet Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 You have external bombs. Insanely draggy. That's why AB is on. Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
kontiuka Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 It does it on a clean aircraft too when the target speed is over 500 kts (maybe less). Maybe the drag on even a clean bomber is too much to overcome w/o afterburner.
Exorcet Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 That could be true too, you're flying mach .93 at low altitude. Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
