openfalcon68
Always had difficulty in keeping the nose in the air upon touch down for aerodynamic braking. The manual's "vigorous" pull on the stick did not help me. So started watching videos of the real thing on YT and trying out things and here is something that seems right. What is not by the book ? Aircraft is heavy, almost 100% fuel N1 RPM is high at approach and touch down, almost 90% What do fellow fishbed flyers think of the attached track ? Stealth_HR
The biggest problem is that the aircraft is heavy. As far as I recall, in case of excess fuel (over 700 L remaining) you're supposed to burn it all off with extended air-brakes, while race-tracking around the airstrip. openfalcon68
Here is one with about 700ltrs fuel remaining. But landing this way repeatedly is not easy. Its taking a lot of effort. openfalcon68
See the MiG-21 landing at 4:50. The NLG hit the rwy immediately after the MLG touched down. Others before him, managed to keep the nose in the air after touch down. I am wondering is this sort of landing is acceptable or is the pilot a junior ?
