TAW_Blaze Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 The time has finally come to enter a new world! Now running this: i5 4690K, no OC yet EVGA 2983-KR GTX980 FSP Aurum Gold 650W COOLERMASTER Hyper 212 EVO GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI ASUS PB278QR RAM's still the old 4x2 1333MHz, I'll fix that sometime later. Also skipped on buying an SSD due to some unforeseen events. Some of my squad mates know the details too :D I have to say, after using a 19" for nearly a decade and starting DCS with bare minimum settings on that resolution I'm utterly blown away. Albeit the price of all this has blown me away too, but hella worth :D I'll head to watch some DCSW 2.0 videos soon, I might get stuck there a while. :)
Demon_ Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 You know what? Before to spend money on the RAM, check your fps... And with this good board you can expect a 4.7Ghz overclock: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2014/05/11/z97-motherboard-group-tests/4 But not with the 212. Target for 4.2-4.4Ghz. TAW_Blaze Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 Great news Blaze. :D You know what? Before to spend money on the RAM, check your fps... And with this good board you can expect a 4.7Ghz overclock: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/mot...-group-tests/4 But not with the 212. Target for 4.2-4.4Ghz. I think I'm pretty fine on FPS atm. If I wanna up the ram I'm thinking about 16Gb with 1866 or better MHz with 2x8 sticks for future scaling options. I do wanna get an SSD aswell, likely to buy these together once I have the money and it becomes necessary, neither of those are present atm. As far as OC-ing goes, I'm not very much into it yet and so far I'm happy with what I've seen already, not sure what it would really bring. If I have the time, I'll do some research later and ask friends about it. I thought so too that the 212 would do allright up to ~ 4,5 GHz, I probably won't need anything higher.

If you have to choose one over the other when it comes time, I HIGHLY recommend a good SSD.. As good as the rest of your hardware now is,. the SSD would show the biggest noticeable improvement to gameplay... "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO
zxarkov Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I second the recommendation for a good SSD. I got my 500gb Samsung 850 EVO for $177 shipped on amazon. __________________________________________________________ i7 3930k @ 4.7GHz | GTX 980 Ti | 16GB G.Skill 2133 Quad Channel | Samsung 850 EVO SSD | Win7 ProX64 | CH Fighterstick | CH Pro Pedals | CH Throttle | BenQ XL2730Z 1440p
