Schmidtfire Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 After seeing the interview with Erich Brunotte, I decided to swap the multicolored tracers on the FW190 to white. Maybe not as pretty, but looks more realistic in my opinion :pilotfly: This mod changes all tracers on FW190-D9 and BF-109K4 to white. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1446991/
ED Team Yo-Yo Posted July 15, 2015 ED Team Posted July 15, 2015 I think Erich's evidence about the colour can not be a reason to change the colour in DCS. I try to explain. When I was firing at the firing range performing a standard military exercise I did not watch the tracer colour - my attention was switched for other things like my targets, the targets of the guys next to me ("got your target - help your friend!" :) ), aiming, firing, corrections by tracers, etc. And I can not say that I remember the colour. As I was a spectator at the firing range I watched how bullets and shells flew and I do remember not only their colours but even the sound of a mortar shells exploding to soft and wet ground in 1 km. :) I really understand what kind of concentration on the significant things a dogfight requires... Anyway, the document to prove German tracer coloures are still unavailable. Schmidtfire Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 Hi Yo-Yo! How did ED choose the tracer-colors for FW190 and BF109? I understand what you mean. But if Erich say that they were white, and there is no document to prove any other color... As many missions that Erich has flown and not once recognized any other color than white seems very strange to me. From my perspective, you also have to go with a gut feeling. Erich says tracers were white, they most likely were white. Don't you agree? :)
Schmidtfire Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 Blue! Luftwaffe used a lot of blue tracers. A light blue color would ALMOST look like white against the sky. "Blue tracer, MG151 and MG151/20 in Bf109F, G2(selectable at least with gunpods in all later 109s as well), all FW190s, MG131 HMG in Bf109G6 to K4, FW190A8, A9, D9, ta-152, MC205 series III, last Ki61, later Zeros, Me110" Seems like we were both wrong, hahaha ;)
RAZBAM_ELMO Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Mod doesn't show up when I click the link, mind posting a drop box link here? Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass. — Dave 'Preacher' Pace, USN.
Schmidtfire Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 A new JSGME version is on the way, with the correct Luftwaffe blue color. I have uploaded the new mod to user files but it has to be approved by admin.

So I am in doubt. Too much contradicting rumours, and other sim memories.
