DCS hangs during loading with some modules

Tested with both open beta update right after release and with the current downloadable version (fresh install) and also Steam version to some extend (could produce the same problem with MiG-21bis on Steam).

 

Following modules cause DCS loading to freeze in the same position:

Hawk

MiG-15bis

L-39C

C-101

Bf-109K-4

MiG-21bis

 

Following modules work without problems:

A-10C

F-86

Flaming Cliffs

FW-190D9

Ka-50

Mi-8TV2

P-51D

Su-25T

TF-51D

Uh-1H

 

No crash or error, game just freezes during loading (no black screen, no logo). DCS.exe is running in the task manager (see attached picture).

 

dcs.log will always stop after line with the above mentioned modules:

"00000.414 UNKNOWN WinMain: ./MissionEditor/data/NewMap/classifier.lua loaded"

 

I've attached an example of dcs.log with only the free modules included (successful start, filename "dcs_no_modules_running.log", see line 132) and freeze after installing the Hawk module ("dcs_after_hawk.log", see line 143). Note that user name is masked with XXXXXXXXXXXXX.

 

System specs:

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (v6.1.7601)

Processor: i5-3570K @3.40GHz

Mem: 32GB

MOBO: Asus P8Z77-V PRO

GPU: 2xGTX680 2GB SLi

Asus Xonar DG soundcard

Warthog HOTAS / Microsoft Sidewinder II FFB

MFG pedals

Track IR 5

 

Speculation:

Could this be related to Locale and DX11? To the best of my knowledge nobody has reported this issue so far, although I can reproduce it consistently. I'm using a Japanese Windows version and the line after the point which the loading stops should be as follows:

"00000.560 INFO DXRENDERER: Creating Resource "Unicode" of type 5"

But this line does not appear when the loading hangs.

Update: Billeinstein came up with a workaround solution for this:

The problem seems to be Microsoft IME (at least both Japanese and Chinese) and switching to English before launching the DCS Open Beta assures that all modules are loaded correctly.

 

I hope that ED has time to fix this properly in the near future, now that the problem has been pinpointed.

I have the same problem with the modules Bf-109K4 and UH-1H Huey. I´m using 1.5.2 on steam and DCS just freezes when i try to start a mission. It worked after reinstalling the modules, but when i closed the game and started it again, the loading screen froze again.

The Open beta is working fine util I install the F-18 module.... then DCS open beta won't start up again....... already tried re installs about 8 times .... already takes weeks.

Open Beta works fine with all my bought add ons...until I install the Hornet. If the F18 is the first installed addon as well as the last (P51, F5, Normandie, WWII..etc) takes many,many hours... and then... OB stops working with the F18
