m1dc Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Hello guys, im new to this game for about over a week and this wednesday ive gotten myself the joystick mentioned in the title. A friend who plays this game has helped me set it up and everything worked fine. I was editing some stuff in the controls section for my buttons and for some unknown reason to me my joystick axis y and x dont work anymore. I can bind every key and even the rudder (twitching the stick) except for pitch and roll (y and x) Tried about anything that i could know about but i dont seem to find the problem. In the beginning using the y and x axis on joystick triggered thrust and airbrake for some reason. Ive tried restarting the whole thing, even reinstalled the game. But still my y and x are not working in the cockpit. I must say everything works when i look at the joystick through windows controller/properties etc. Works fine there. And i can even use the y and x in controls to bind to according to pitch and roll. So they work to recognize them in controls section, but once i press ok and look when im in the cockpit, no movement. Hope someone can help me out here :) Thanks.
Dingo_Bob Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 check the switch on the rear is set to PC and not PS3, or that you haven't pressed the mapping, home or preset buttons buttons, other than that could be a loose wire internally or maybe the drivers? m1dc Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 check the switch on the rear is set to PC and not PS3, or that you haven't pressed the mapping, home or preset buttons buttons, other than that could be a loose wire internally or maybe the drivers? The switch on the back is on pc ive checked that before. Ive been pushing on the mapping and preset buttons but ive followed the manuel how to reset them back to factory (like when my joystick worked) And could drivers be a problem for 2 things only out of 12 buttons and axis? As i stated, the joystick works fine when trying all buttons and joystick out in properties. As it works to assign them to pitch and roll by moving them. Just doesnt work when im in the cockpit.
m1dc Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 Figured out right now that it also doesnt work when i use my keyboard for pitch up and down, and air bank left or right. So it must a be a problem from the game i suppose. Everything else can be used and binded either to keyboard or joystick.
Dingo_Bob Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 process of elimination, I had similar when i owned the stick, I would get conflicts between it and some mouse & Madcatz / Saitek stuff at times, try deleting the inputs folder for the aircraft and maybe the defaults inputs folder too and do a repair and then rebind, Make sure that X & Y are bound to pitch & roll in the General setting as well as the aircraft axis assignments other than that i'm at a loss, [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Modules are like Pokemon you gotta catch 'em all :joystick::lol::pilotfly: AMD Ryzen7 3700x, G-Skills 32Gb RAM @ 3200Mhz, MSI GTX1080Ti, TM Warthog (20cm extension by Sahaj), MFG Crosswind Pedals, Oculus Rift, Track Ir5
Dingo_Bob Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 try manually selecting and assign Joy_x & Joy_y from the drop down list in settings and see if that works rather than pushing the stick to assign [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Modules are like Pokemon you gotta catch 'em all :joystick::lol::pilotfly: AMD Ryzen7 3700x, G-Skills 32Gb RAM @ 3200Mhz, MSI GTX1080Ti, TM Warthog (20cm extension by Sahaj), MFG Crosswind Pedals, Oculus Rift, Track Ir5
m1dc Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 Already tried manually. Could you give me a short description on how to delete the inputs and repairing it?
Blech Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Hi, Delete the sub-folder ...\Input C:\Users\ xxx \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input Start -> All programs -> Eagle Dynamics -> Repair
m1dc Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 (edited) Hi, Delete the sub-folder ...\Input C:\Users\ xxx \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input Start -> All programs -> Eagle Dynamics -> Repair Deleted the folder but cant find the repair :/ Edited October 17, 2015 by m1dc
Blech Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Hi, See the screenshot (German) : DCS World reparieren
m1dc Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Im playing through steam, so deleting the input folders and verifying cache makes them reinstall them, so this is a repair too? I dont have that dropdown options that you have blech. Been trying to fix this all day right now. what ive got so far: sometimes when after a fresh install or steam repair de joystick Y and X work on the su 33, then suddently no more when binding everything. Interesting to know that on other planes the Y and X works fine. But for example on the f15 (where the joystick Y and X works) i cannot bind thrust for some reason (to my slider). Also maybe important is, if i cannot get it to work on the joystick, the keyboard key assigned for it does not work aswell, even when rebinding it. Im at a total loss here :/
Blech Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Hi, "verifying cache" is the repair-function with Steam To delete the input-folder + repair solves many problems and should be the first thing to do Found something with with google - but I have only one idea Is it possible that Steam has another path than C:\Users\ xxx \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input ? See the second link Troubleshooting Checklist http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=476652814 Run direct ? Run as admin ? ... Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113587 Can I have both the standalone and Steam versions of DCS installed? Do they share settings? Are there any negative side-effects? You can have both installations on your PC at the same time. There won't be any negative effects due to both installations keeping all their updates / configurations within their own folders.
