Apologies if this has already been discussed or is scheduled to be fixed in 2.0 or whathaveyou, but...

Has anyone felt the land unit AI lacking? I find it especially highlighted in something slower like the KA50 where you can literally get in range and pick off armor one by one, with very little evasive action by the enemy. They might move 500 meters in one direction, then halt. It would be great if they determined the direction of the attack and then put terrain or obstacles between them, or fall back to another rally point, or if they feel they have superior firepower move to attack.

Am I just so naive to what level of programming that is? Are there any mods out there that get close to what I'm thinking of? Is all that just mission maker programming?

If circumstances are right, they will move towards you to bring you within range of their weapons..

Cheers.

The AI is basic one. There is no simulation for FOV or mental state of the crew members or even individual crew member positions etc.

A ground unit will find you from the sky very easily and they will even engage you too easily. And yes, a attack helicopter flying 100-200kph is more difficult target to them than a ground attack aircraft like Su-25 flying 600kph doing a maneuvers.

The DCS requires a better maps that can have a lots of trees and bushes so we actually need to find the ground units from the ground and they can have a cover as concealment. And AI should know how to prevail attack by doing air alarms in columns and then pull correctly to side in air cover and prepare self defence positions = unload troops, set HMG/MANPAD firing positions, camouflage vehicles and call air support.

yeah, i do wish it was better simulated, as is some things are far too strong and some things are far too weak; columns of armor generally moving along roads will stop when attacked for instance, why would they do that?

likewise, insurgent zu-23 are hilariously strong, considering they're an ironsighted gun built in the 1960s and probably not cleaned since then, crewed by scruffy-faced dudes they probably shouldn't be able to perfectly bracket a plane they can probably barely see at maximum range on the first shot

i mean shilka? sure, at least it has a radar.
