Johnny Dioxin Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Up to now I've only done simple missions such as training and navigation flights and nothing containing any kind of scripts. I wish to write a mission for multiplayer, with two large opposing sides, but I want to try and make it so that each time the ground battle may go a little differently. What I'd like to know is: 1> If two opposing units come across each other, will they automatically fight it out? 2> If they do, once a unit has won that battle, will the remaining units continue on their planned route? 3> If I place a JTAC for client use, will it remin dormant (or not spawn at all) until a player jumps in, or will the AI control it first? 3> If the AI will control it, will it send messages to client pilots when enemy units come within it's area of ops or do I have to arrange that in the editor? 4> I do have Slmod running, but is there any other penalty for a client who commits fratricide? (blue on blue) if I know these things, I can make a big battlefield and let the players either follow JTAC instructions or just fly missions as they like. Thanks in advance for any info :) Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!
Sryan Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 1 by default yes, provided they can detect each other. You can change this with things like ROE, and setting it to like return fire when fired upon. 2: yes 3: it will not spawn untill a client enters it. 3 ( the 2nd question 3 ;) ) it will not report targets untill a player pilot "checks in". You'd have to write a script or something to get that kind of behaviour. Check my F-15C guide
Johnny Dioxin Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 OK thanks - not so bad - I'll work around the things I can't do without scripting! I would attempt learning it, but I am getting old, am on very strong medication and I have a ton of other stuff to learn atm.
