Sierra99 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Gentlemen. Ok, I started down this road once before but life, career change and a move across country sidelined this issue until now. I have a couple of questions about the KC-135R and how it is modeled in the sim. Specificly the questions I have the following questions. 1.) The Empty and Maximum Takeoff Weight of the aircraft is wrong. A KC-135R weighs in at about 111,000 to 114,000 lbs depending on Parts installed and the Maximum takeoff weight is 322,500lbs. (approximately 200K of that being fuel.) This might not seem important but it leads to the second part of my question... 2.) Do AI KC-135s burn fuel while orbiting? If so, at what rate... 3.) when a receiver takes fuel from an orbiting KC-135, is the amount subtracted from the tanks shortening its orbit time? All of these things work together from a planning point of view because in real life, - a KC-135 can't take off from Batumi at 322,500. Too heavy solo - The fuel load would have to be less - this would affect how many aircraft can be refueled...assuming the fuel offloaded is subtracted from the fuel available... - and how long the KC-135 can orbit before having to RTB. Does it matter? Well yes and no. As a fighter pilot it's the perfect scenario...unlimited fuel...but real life isn't so forgiving. Missions would be more challenging if you had to go to the tanker...but the tanker would only give you so much fuel. Make sense? So who or where do we start to adjust / fix this?
