hoochiekoo Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 There are 2 needles on the ITE-2 tachometer, N1 and N2. The N1 pointer HPC RPM and the N2 pointer LPC RPM. 1. What is the difference of HPC and LPC? 2. What is the use of LPC monitoring?
Buzzles Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 1) LPC and HPC = Low Pressure and High Pressure Compressors RPM. Why two? The Ivchenko AI-25 is a dual stage compressor type turbofan. 2) Mostly for correct operation. As it's a dual shaft engine, it's entirely possible one compressor+turbine has a problem (compressor stalls, flameout, failures) and the other doesn't, so you'd need to be able to monitor it. FYI, the answer to 1) is in the product manual from 81 onwards Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
hoochiekoo Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Thank you very much. This make me find more understanding about the engine that I read pass the manual without notice. So, we have to monitor both needles and find out what went wrong if they don't work properly and fix the problem if enable or abort the mission and landing as soon as possible.
