rpayne88 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 I've got an X52 HOTAS I bought off ebay from a reputable seller. A few weeks ago, my stick started making squeaking/ rubbing noise when ever I move the stick. Furthermore, the stick seems to be inconsistent in regards to the force I need to apply. For example, it takes x amount of force to move to say, 50% deflection, then requires substantially less after that point. I've tried lubricating and cleaning it. I suspect the issue is due to the design of the plastic piece at the bottom of the spring. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Holbeach Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 It's a common fault with this design. Clean the chrome shaft with dry tissue until no dirt shows. Lubricate with silicon grease, nothing else. Lubricate the lower rim. This rim wears flat with age and the juddering only gets worse. I've also reduced the spring tension with cable ties. There are other more drastic things that you can do, but try these first. .. ASUS 2600K 3.8. P8Z68-V. ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080Ti, RAM 16gb Corsair. M2 NVME 2gb. 2 SSD. 3 HDD. 1 kW ps. X-52.
