Are you talking about the up, down, and neutral indicators next to the HUD? They've always worked for me, but I have only tried to do it in 1.5. If you're talking about the setup on the carrier, I've never tried to use it and you might be better off trying not to use it since it's only visible so late in the approach. I would guess that it doesn't work, but I may be wrong.

Talking the lights on the carrier, the quivalent of the PAPI lights on airfield indicating the glideslope and indeed it is for late approach, usualy intercepted about 3/4 of a miles or when passed the last 90 deg before getting in the groove, used to land carrier in FSX using these, rather than the ILS and i'm having some problm using the system in the SU-33, gotta work it out :) I just find it easier to follow the ball
