Kofita Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Hello Guys! I really need your help, I've just gone and spent alot of money on a new setup and was not thinking im going to get into DCS so much. With my current game play some head tracking would be really beneficial too me. I do not have the money or atleast wont have in the near future for a Track ir. Is this Delan clip that i have found for around 37 pounds or 55ish dollars do the job? Here is a link too it: http://www.delanengineering.com/shop/#!/DelanClip-Gamer/p/43397050/category=0 Tell me what you guys think?
cichlidfan Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 The Delan clip is a replacement for the Track IR Proclip. Neither of them is a standalone head tracking device. Both require a tracking camera (i.e. Track IR5). OK, I forgot that they offered that package. However, that does not include any software. That setup is for those using one of the free head tracking software packages floating around out there. Yeah i looked at that and found a decent one that does face tracking and it seems like a really cool easy software but for 50$ i think itd be better than me having to use my hat switch?
cichlidfan Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 That is entirely up to you. I have never experimented with any of the free packages so I have no first hand experience. From posts I have seen it seems a very much 'Your Mileage May Vary' regarding how well it works and how much fiddling is involved. However, if you decide to get Track IR down the road, the Delan Clip will still serve you very will along with it. So your money won't be a complete write off if you are not happy with the free software. 1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! From first hand expirience, I can say, that using the DelanClip together with the facetrackNoIR software is a complete substitute for my TrackIR5. I owned both, the TIR4pro and TrackIR5, they were a real enrichment for my simulations. Nevertheless, after selling my whole equipment ( I guess in an hour of mental darkness), I was re-buying the whole enchillada and was aiming for an affordable solution regarding the viewing system. FacetrackNoIR without the DelanClip was my first attemt, but it's very dependent on factors like the illumination of your face during gameplay, wearing glasses will drive facetrackNoIR worthless and so on. I tried my webcam , I tried my sons PS3 cam ... both were not the real deal when it came to preciseness. Finally, I stumbled across the DelanClip set with the modified PS3 eye camera. That fulfilled my needs and was only a third of the price of the TIR5. Just from my point of view. Loads do it on the fly!
