Hi,

I've searched the forum for a way of backup the key bindings from 1.2 to 1.5 but I can't see any information.

Is there any way to backup our custom keys and axis settings so we can transfer the settings and not lose all the work?

Also, is there a way of accessing the key settings via in multiplayer game?

Thank you.

Kind regards.

Bump!

Meaning, is there anyway of accessing key biding options while in multiplayer? That would be most important feature.

I always edit and backup the stock lua files not diff files. So, I have no certain info about that, but I suggest you to check Saved Games folder. You'll see DCS folder, and Config/Input folder under it. Your custom input settings are there. Keep them alive. :)

Unfortunately, no. If we have this feature, there wouldn't be greater feature than that! :\

You have a folder called Saved Games, which contains all manner of configuration settings for each version of DCS World. In effect, this is your backup because it's contents remains mostly unchanged by updates, and each iteration of DCS World creates it's own file within the saved Games folder.

It is located (using your nominated name) in the file structure C:\Users\*NAME*\Saved Games, and you'll find a folder within that for each of the 3 current installs of DCS World.

Between 1.2 and 1.5 Beta there is no issue just copying the inputs config files across. You can also do so for the majority of modules from 1.5 Beta to 2.0 Alpha. The exceptions are due to changes in the way the keybindings are configured, so you may get some issues - for example the MiG-21Bis changed between 1.2 and 1.5 Beta, and the F-86F changed between 1.5 Beta and 2.0 Alpha.

However, if you wish to report bugs - the reason we have been given access early - then you should NEVER copy across any config files. The fact remains however that you already have a back up of the input files because they exist in the saved games file structure. If you want to be certain they will never be affected by updates, then just create a copy of the whole of the structure within the saved games section.

The cleanest way to keep your input files configured is to just keep notes as you make the changes, and when a new release comes out, it is simple to get your notes out, and do the same things you did before to the new install. Again though, if you are conducting tests and reporting bugs, then lua file editing is naughty of course, so just use the provided interface options.
