steve2112 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 please excuse the noobie question but i just want to confirm, i downloaded DCS world 1.5 already and like it but want to take the next step. FC3 looks awesome and its only about $20 on steam so if i buy that, do i need anything else? does it come with terrain? also, if i download DCS world 2.0, will the steam version of FC3 also work with that, including terrain? thanks and sorry if this is obvious to all but i'm still getting my head around the whole DCS thing also, the nevada terrain looks awesome, will FC3 run on that? thanks My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
Exorcet Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 FC3 is a module for DCS World and plugs into DCS World. DCSW comes with the free Caucasus terrain, but this is temporarily unavailable in DCSW 2.0 because that is an early alpha. To play DCSW 2.0 right now you need to buy the NTTR map. The good news is that as of right now, 1.5 (which has the free map) and 2.0 are basically the same. So in short: -FC3 only needs to be added to DCSW to run -FC3 works in 1.2, 1.5, and 2.0 -FC3 will work in 2.0 without any additional pay content when 2.0 is updated to include the old map -FC3 will work with NTTR, but you need to buy the latter. steve2112 Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Exorcet, thanks for clearing that up My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
steve2112 Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 i got FC3 from steam yesterday and wow, lots of fun and awesome graphics. but i'm not sure i can use the new Nevada test range with the steam version since the steam version of FC3 requirement me to load the steam version of DCS world which is an older version, not the 2.0. and steam doesn't have the Nevada terrain yet. maybe i need to ask in a different part of the forum if its possible to use Nevada with steam FC3? Exorcet Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Steam purchases can be used with the ED version of DCS World http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125452 You will need to download DCSW from here to use NTTR map: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/2.0/ Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
steve2112 Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 ok thanks, so the key i got from steam will run on FC3 if i download DCSW2 and FC3 from ED right? My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
Exorcet Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Yes, specifically download and install DCSW2, then from module manager in DCSW2 download FC3. When it asks for the key, enter the steam key. Goldham Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 You can't buy modules from the ED Store and use them on steam, you used to be able to but you can't anymore.
steve2112 Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 i installed FC3 on DCSW1.2 and its working fine (the ED version i mean). it didn't even ask me for a key, i guess it knew the steam FC3 key was already installed My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
