Charly_Owl Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Hi folks, I have started to write yet another guide for the Mirage and I have a dozen switches I have little to no idea of what they do. I couldn't find anything in the Dassault manual and I thought that maybe the community could help me figure out what these last few "unknown" buttons are and what they do. See attached pdf file to see where these switches are (they are in red highlighted boxes). Thanks in advance, Chuck https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-uSpZROuEd3WEwzQ1ROT1ZUYjg Note: These cockpit screenshots are placeholders taken from the FSX M2000 module. 1 Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Chuck's Guides on Mudspike Chuck's Youtube Channel Chuck's Patreon
mvsgas Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Thanks To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
myHelljumper Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 The Radar panel from FSX is a RDM one. The RAZBAM 2000 will have a RDI so the informations you are giving might be irrelevant regarding this. Anyway keep it coming good work ;-) Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Cantiga Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Radar control panel is completely different. FSX M2K has RDM consoles. For RDI(From M2M Facebook):

Azrayen Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) Hi Charly_Owl Some are easy, some are less easy. I will try to help soon, but X-mas gets on the way. I'm not sure I get what's your question for some of the items? For example: Item: Dispenser Mode Item : LL (Lance-Leurres) Item: Bomb fuse selector => for those (and a few others), it seems to me that the info already written is OK and complete => what is it you're asking about them? Anyway, for those I can tell from memory: Item: EM = remaining chaff counter Item: IR = remaining flares counter Item: Radar Operation Mode Selector = 4 positions as follows: A = ARRÊT (OFF) = the radar system is off P CH = PRÉ-CHAUFFAGE (PREHEATING) = to warm-up the radar (a few minutes) SIL = SILENCE (NOT EMITTING) = radar is ready, but in stand by, antenna sweeps but no EM energy is emitted EM = ÉMISSION (EMITTING) = radar is operating Item: Radar Display Mode (PPI, B?) = PPI and B are the 2 options for displaying the radar. PPI is like russian Su-27. B mode is like F-15. \ / vs | | = = = = = = = = Will try to complete later. ++ Az' PS: BTW, PSIC is correctly (litterally) translated, but you may add that is the STT (Single Target Track) equivalent (and for that matters, PSID = TWS). Charly_Owl Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure I get what's your question for some of the items? For example: Item: Dispenser Mode Item : LL (Lance-Leurres) Item: Bomb fuse selector It means that for these items I took wild guesses without any source material to confirm whether I'm spewing nonsense or not. But hey, merci mille fois, 'vieux! Eagerly waiting for your other answers. Azrayen Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 OK, got it, you need confirmation :) Item: Dispenser Mode Item : IFF Interrogation Program Item: ECM Mode => can't tell for now, this is part of the defensive suite, so really not much documented... Item : LL (Lance-Leurres) => your guesses are correct including values. = = = = = Item: Bomb fuse selector => your guesses are correct including values. On the same screenshot: Cv NAV = Inertial goal => yes, Cv mean Cap Vrai (True Heading), by opposition to Cm Cap Magnétique (Magnetic Heading) TEL = short for TÉLÉAFFICHAGE = Remote guidance (not sure it's really in use... with ATC help maybe and some kind of datalink? Anyway I don't think it's implementable into DCS) HSI Course selector => I'm not sure... yes it sounds logical but the manual describes it as a "control to display the additionnal vector"... = = = = = Item: Gun VTH Mode => yes indeed. Then I guess CCLT = Calcul Continu ? des Limites de Tir ???? PRED = Prédéfini (pre-set) ? = = = = = Item: Trim indicator? => no, this shows the control surfaces deflexions, not "only" the trim settings. Item: VHF radio TX operation Mode selector => nope, it's the selector for the frequency mode, with values: M = Manuel (manual frequency), P = Présélection (preset channels) and G = Garde (Guard). On the same screenshot: what you call "radio mute" (SIL switches) is in fact the squelch. = = = = = Item: Air-to-air radar Mode => does not exist on RDI Item: PER => does not exist on RDI Item: DEC => yes it's short for DÉCoupe iso-altitude ; in VISU you get the ground returns. In Découpe you get 2-color returns: red above a pre-set height, green below. So you're cutting (découpe) your visu (display) in two ;) On the same screenshot: when you'll update your picture for the radar console, just above the radar range switch, the one you labelled as radar on/off (it was a mistake on the cockpit texture by M2M by the way) is in fact RÉMANENCE knob (it means persistence/afterglow), that sets if a target stays displayed longer on the VTB after having been sweeped (spotted) by the radar. The knob has two positions: N = NON (persistence off) R = RÉMANENCE (persistence on) This is only efficient in air-to-air mode. = = = = = Item: Trim Selector => this is the emergency trim, for when the FBW is in "gains secours" mode. On the same screenshot: Volume VHF radio should be Volume V/UHF radio (this radio can do both VHF & UHF) = = = = = ++ Az' 1
Charly_Owl Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Many thanks once again. FYI I found out that CCLT stands for "calcul continu de la ligne de traceurs" (continuous computation of tracer line). il_corleone Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 That Radar on Sil mode reminds me of Falcon time :) :) thats a good feeling
Azrayen Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 My pleasure, Charly_Owl. Team guesswork is useful :) Check PM please. Regards, Az'
