Flagrum Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I was experimenting with the A2G aspects of the M2KC and have encountered some ... difficulties. For instance, slick Mk-82 can only be dropped in CCRP mode. The "natural" mode - for me - would be CCIP, no? I mean CCRP makes it even harder to hit something with dumb bombs than with CCIP ... I can understand that GBU's can only be used with CCRP: makes sense to pre-plan you attack as you have to coordinate with your lasing buddy anyways. But the only bombs that can be dropped with CCIP are CBU's and Snakeeyes ... where "precission" is not really necessary (or archievable, no matter the technique). Strange. Or do I miss something here? And while I am already at it: is there a way to "auto pickle" in CCRP mode? That release que is moving up so fast - I find it impossible to time my button press even remotely accurate (adding even more error to the whole procedure). The original manual (avialogs, p. 105-106) seems to hint that there could be a way: "autorisation de tir par le poussoir BRM (largage automatique)" google translate: "authorization by the BRM shooting button (automatic release)" So, what is that BRM button?
Zeus67 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 We cannot do anything about the CCRP/CCIP selection based on weapon. That is how the aircraft was designed. About the release cue. We will enable the automatic release in the future. What it does is that as soon as you see the release cue, you press the trigger and the bombs will be automatically released when the cue says they should. The cue is fast, because it is time based. You only have 15 seconds before you overfly your release point. So far, the Universe is winning." "The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea."
Mike5560 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Apparently you have to use the mk-82 snakeyes to do CCIP bombing.
Flagrum Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 We cannot do anything about the CCRP/CCIP selection based on weapon. That is how the aircraft was designed. No, I understand and appreciate that! But I just try to understand the thinking behind it when the french designed it that way. Perhaps I am just "using the aircraft wrong" (yes, I know I do - as it is not really meant to be a mud mover but you know what I mean ;o) ...? About the release cue. We will enable the automatic release in the future. What it does is that as soon as you see the release cue, you press the trigger and the bombs will be automatically released when the cue says they should. That's .... nice! Thanks! The cue is fast, because it is time based. You only have 15 seconds before you overfly your release point. Hrm, yeah. But it does not really help to be precise ... ;o) But I guess, with the automatic release, I will be happy then. Apparently you have to use the mk-82 snakeyes to do CCIP bombing. Yeah, but as they are only deployed retarded, this does also not really help to hit something smaller than an ... airfield ...? ;o)
jojo Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 The CCRP is not fully functional right now. The idea is to use loft bombing to release at maximum range. Dive to align target in HUD (-30° dive is good). Designate target. Pull up full aft stick (CHARGES mode so 6G maximum). Release when release cue reach the designation symbol. In the future, when auto release will be made available, you will be able to press the trigger all along the pull up, and the bombs will be released just the right time. In the while, you can do a gentle pull up, and try to anticipate a little bit trigger press. Mirage fanatic !
