Zee Pet Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Hi there, just had an incident on MP where a sam took my wing off from the root and I was able to fly like nothing happened. I heard the bang but didn't think anything of it until i looked left and something was missing... ||i5-9600k||MSI GTX1070Ti Duke||16GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaws V||Gigabyte Aorus B360||X56||
Rlaxoxo Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Weird lol ... I had lost 1 wing before and lost control many times although i had it happen to me that I could regain control but just barely and it was really hard to fly [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Youtube Reddit
Random Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Possibly a disconnect between graphical damage and simulated? I've lost half a wing and been unable to recover...
Zeus67 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Possibly a disconnect between graphical damage and simulated? I've lost half a wing and been unable to recover... Very likely. Fionn Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Same issue here. not MP tho a single player mission I created. My control is limited but i can still fly!!!
Zee Pet Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 That graphical disconnect might be it (I know nothing in terms of FM modeling though). It seems possible to me since I've had a few instances where I'd have only the shrapnel damage visible on the wing- but the drag of a whale on the aircraft such that I just drop out of the sky, no spin or anything, just as if I was turned into a glider or something but with full AB. I'm guessing the damage model is super early as well? ||i5-9600k||MSI GTX1070Ti Duke||16GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaws V||Gigabyte Aorus B360||X56||
Zee Pet Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Cool stuff, keep up the good work guys! ||i5-9600k||MSI GTX1070Ti Duke||16GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaws V||Gigabyte Aorus B360||X56||
codefox Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I'd like to add something in here which I experienced, also related to the damage model. When I lost a wing and I repaired, the FM still acts as if the wing is not there. When I take off after repair, I lose control of my plane and plummet towards the ground, just as if there was no wing. It's there, visually, though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

nomdeplume Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Another disconnect between damage model and graphics - tyres will throw out sparks and make grinding sounds when they're damaged, but will appear completely normal visually. The one in the attached screenshot is an AI that made it home without a wing, but obviously the flight model thinks it's still there (and that its gear was blown apart, so it's making sparks as well). The right main gear looks completely normal but is sparking and making noises like it's grinding on the runway. I've experienced the "sparking but tyre looks fine" issue myself, but didn't take a screenshot.
jeffmaysefaith79 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I had a related issue. The vertical stabilizer was blown off and I still had full rudder authority. "You should fly a fighter aircraft one inch from out of control at all times in a purposeful way" -Willie Driscoll USN (ret)
