sedenion Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I made some test with view, trying to get a good compromise, but as the HUD projection field currently is, it's pretty hard to have a good compromise... The HUD projection field appear to be too low in comparison of head/camera height (is that realy normal ?) and maybe little to large... Flagrum Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Could it be "by design"? The (DCS) manual explicitely stresses that one has to adjust the seat height when performing ground attacks - so it is probably by design that not all HUD information is visible in every situation?

I think its in part by design, but the real one seem however to have a better "height" adjustment than in game... ( see where is the altitude indicator ) ( Bellow it's obviously a 2000-5, but i think it is pretty comparable to 2000-C, since the altitude indicator seem to be at the same place ) Edited December 30, 2015 by sedenion
Flagrum Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I couldn't find it in the manual, but it looks as if the heading scale is depressed when on the ground (similar to APP mode?). Your 3rd screenshot seems to have a similar eye position as in the first photo. The photo shows the heading scale roughly aligned with the (what's the word for this!?) bars-that-hold-the-HUD-glass. But in your screenshot, it is indeed lower ... but the pitch ladder goes further up - to, yeah, roughly the same position as you would expect the heading scale, right?
sedenion Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 It is simple for me: On the screen shot (where the HUD projection appear in fairly good position), you can clearly see the HUD projector, the point of view is very above. On the photo, it's obvious you can't see the HUD projector nor the top of the dashboard, the point of view is lower and much more in the axis of the HUD.

So that you are able to raise the seat to have a better view (i.e. see that invertet T cue at the bottom) and still see the heading scale. I.e. I would assume, that here your 3rd pic is how you are supposed to sit. Then, when in the air, the heading scale is placed on top of the hud and would look like the 2nd pic. So, I doubt we can compare HUD images of different situations (ground/flight/flight mode) edit: Hrm, just tested my theory. And the heading scale stays where it is. But I think, _that_ is then the actual bug. The placement of the heading scale (and the elements relative to it, like speed and altitude) is to low and should be placed higher. If that should be depending on the situation - I don't know. Edited December 30, 2015 by Flagrum

I don't think the heading scale and other thing are supposed to move... i think the HUD projection is currently just too low and need to be slightly elevated to get a more accurate (and convenient) overall perspective of the HUD and panels...
