harf4ng Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Hi, I was following the pdf of the sabre guide, but there is something I don't understand... 1. The guide says to unlock mechanical cage, ok. Unsure what it does exactly, but it changes the big aiming by a small one. 2. Then I have to hold electrical cage. And then what? Do I have to point the enemy plane with the aiming crosshair before releasing the electrical cage button? And now? I see a moving aiming that tries to lock at the target. But what is the effect of this aiming crosshair? To show where I should shoot so with the moving target the bullets will hit? Is this a bit like in space simulation where you have an aiming crosshair that shows you where to aim so with the target movement your bullets will hit? Is there a more in depth fighting tutorial for the sabre somewhere? I was able to hit my target even without that in the instant action mission but I guess this was because my target was not really moving. Also, this plane has a radar, but the radar is just this red light showing up? And then I have to find out myself where the enemy plane is? (I have a problem with that, I often lost my target ^^) Thanks Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.
NeilWillis Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 The sight floats to compensate for the forces of gravity on the bullet stream when you are pulling Gs. In other words, when you turn right, the bullet stream will lag to the left. Thy gyroscopic sight compensates for this. The gyros are however affected badly by g forces, so you need to keep the sight caged until you are using it. The radar seeks the range of the target, and adjusts the sight location to compensate for the effects of gravity as the bullet energy is depleted.
harf4ng Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 So, you just have to keep the target in the center of the crosshair and fire? This is how it works? And checking if you're not out of range, but if I'm out of range the enemy plane will be so small I'll not fire anyway :) Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.
Luzifer Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 The radar is only for range finding. It relieves you of the need to do it yourself. For manual range finding you would set the correct wing span on the sight and then turn the throttle twist grip so that the circle matches the visible size of the plane. Given the range and the g-forces the sight can calculate where the bullets would go at that distance and put the crosshair there. So yes, you maneuver to put the crosshair on the target and fire.
