death to labels, now the learning starts

ok i must confess i am still using labels to a certain degree when going thru the offline single player missions.

take for example the "patrol cacauses F-15" mission where you set out and around nav point 2 you come across 2 helicopters down in the valley attacking ground troups in a convoy, you know it?

i have attempted this mission many times and unfortunately since its not dynamic campains i know the heli's are going to be there.

awacs never seems to mention them, and i have yet to pick them up on radar (2) mode.

usually if i don't pick them up going thru the valley in bore(4) mode my wingman soon lets me know he has taken them out.

 

the way it is now if i didn't know they were there, i would never find them.

might just mention i had a play around with the label parameters some time ago and changed things around so i had basic labels at a distance, so i could see for example a launch and what it was, but within say 5nm i had no labels, thats history,

now its none at all :)

i have seen them climb out of the valley, but havent picked up on the awacs notification of there presence, if they do get a mention the i take it back.

 

even so, if they are down in the valley, how do you go about locating them as you approach the nav point2.

i did the mission today, and was asking awacs for nearest bandit, just kept hearing it was clear.

you are correct, that how i saw them on a recent mission.

i was hoping for a more precise method using the radar or something, but i guess getting a visual is as good as any.
