Hello!

I sent an email the Tacview support regarding the program not working and it's been 3 days since I last sent with still no response so I'm taking my issue to the forums. I don't know if this is the right forum, but its the most fitting one I can find.

This was my original email:

Hello! I just bought Tacview and I'm facing quite an issue with it. I can't seem to get the program to work with DCS 1.5 . I have tried the program in Falcon 4 and it works perfectly so the program itself is fine. However, after both the automatic script setup for DCS as well as me attempting the manual setup, the program fails to record any DCS acmi's. The Tacview folder is empty. I have searched my computer for .acmi and .acmi.txt and no such files exist besides the ones in Falcon 4. I also changed the file location for DCS recordings to see if it was a write issue to the directory but that is not the problem as it persists. The automatic script install for Tacview already changed everything to what it should be (as it says in the manual setup on your faq) so everything is setup correctly. I also tried re-installing Tacview, that does not work.

I have no anti-virus, no viruses either (nor anything that can be malicious or considered malicious that could stop this process of file creation) and I am on Windows 10. I appreciate the help, thanks in advance.

~Thomas

This could be a problem with DCS also, but I have seen people on YouTube running 1.5 (Waggs for example) and using Tacview, so I am not sure what can be causing this issue.

I have no problem with it in either 1.5 or 2, so I don't think it's a problem with Tacview. I suspect there is something missing in the setup. Did you select DCS from the Tacview menu? Are you testing on your client machine? (Some multiplayer servers disable exporting.) Perhaps there is a Windows firewall or permissions issue? I'm not at my gaming PC so I can't look at the various files to tell you what they are. If no one else adds this info, I'll try to do it later.

Edit: Did you enable exporting in your config file? I didn't see that mentioned in your original post.

make sure Tacview is pointing to the correct DCS install folder, it defaults to C:\programfles......

so if you have it elsewhere it won't find it,

Make sure you have the option in the Tacviw menus checked to record DCS flights and that you have a specified a save location for the .acmi files, again it'll save to a default location somewhere odd,

then check your export.lua with notepad++ and make sure the Tacview export line / dofile is the first one listed if you have more than one export running, and if you do have more that 1 try removing one at a time to see if one is conflicting with the other,

then as Ajax said, test in SP first, alot of MP servers don't allow it, and ifrunning your own MP make sure to allow export in the mission options list, before you save & run the mission

Thanks both for the response, after double checking it looked liked it all checked out but then I took a little gander at the videos folder again and I saw two videos from DCS 2 beta in the folder. I then compared the two exports and found that I had something called aries added to the export. Just removed it and now it works, thanks. Sorry for the bother.

Time to enjoy Tacview!
