After the first mission, I parked next to another A-10C - I don't think I missed instructions regarding where we were supposed to go. The zone choice is a little weird, as I believe those areas are meant to perform pre-takeoff or post-landing checks before going to the actual parking area.

Anyway, another aircraft tried to park on my spot and stopped right behind me, probably seeing an obstacle. Then another one collided with him.

1) Obstacle detection at fault and collision with a non-moving aircraft.

2) AI parking logic needs tuning ;)

ATC or ground services should probably assign spots as aircraft are coming and going.

Here is another accident, again in the first mission of the campaign. I will not create a new thread for this, I think it's all under the general "AI behaviour when driving on tarmac" issue.

What happened:

  • the A-10C in front landed and stopped in the middle of the runway 21L, it stayed there for some reason,
  • much later a couple of A-10C's landed, one of them aborted at the last second and went around,
  • the other one continued its landing, and crashed into the stopped one; it wasn't going so fast at this point and could have swerved or braked, but didn't.

I did this mission twice, and each time when landing I received a last-second abort order from the ATC because "the runway was occupied", even though I was given the green light before. I think it was actually the previous flight exiting the runway, there was no obstacle.

I don't know what degree of control is done by the campaign mission, or whether it's only AI and ATC issues. In the latter case, feel free to move this thread in another sub-forum.

It does happen, I have had #2 run into me in one of the F-15C Red Flag missions while holding short of the active. It sucks when it happens, just try to be cognizant of the AI behavior to try and avoid those situations.

Ouch!

Well, here they were killing one another so it wasn't much of a concern for me. But I think it's a good example of what needs to be addressed :)

We are in the process of adding new functionality to the ME that allows the mission designer to set post-landing parking locations. Once this is complete, we will make these assignments and that should resolve this issue.

Thanks

That's awesome! Looking forward to the added functionality.

I've had issues with the AI attempting to land in formation with me, and either crashing or going around at the last moment prior to touchdown. That may be caused by me not landing correctly. Additionally, I've also seen them park willy-nilly wherever they want, including the middle of the runway after landing. If I don't start on the ramp, I tell my wingmen to anchor at a random point while I land myself to get the 100% completion option. Also, it seems like there's no completion penalty if your wingman crashes.

Nice!

I've also seen that ATC improvement was planned, I'm looking forward those enhancements, even if they are a little remote to the main aircraft simulation core, they make for a much better immersion :)
