Hi guys, I decided to put some lubrication (this one: http://www.planetahuerto.es/venta-grasa-de-molibdeno-lubricante-negro-100-ml-ceys_09736 ) to my new x52 pro but I have a "weird" problem I cant find anything about...

The thing is after using it, the stick is very smooth BUT only in more or less "fast" movements but as soon as you use it in "real" gaming situations and make fine movements the stick gets stuck (like scraping)... this only happens when you pull the stick to a mid range position and then try to continue the pull, it just get stuck in that mid position and so its really hard to play as you cant make little adjustments in flight ...

I have realized that the problem seems to be that the shaft and the metal "cone" piece that moves over the shaft where springs are mounted is soooo tight to the shaft that when I put the lube on it and make some movements with the stick I can see how the lube is expelled from that inner zone where the two pieces are frictioning...that happens only in the lower part of the pieze, here (not actual picture of my stick btw):

attachment.php?attachmentid=135661&stc=1&d=1456672202

because when I clean this zone it gets a lot worse....but as soon as I move a bit the stick all lube is removed from there due to the tight fit between shaft and metal piece...again, the stick is just horrible now when doing little movements or pulling and then stopping and then trying to continue the movement but if you make faster movement its incredible smooth and great WTF?¿?¿?

What made I wrong?? I cant find anyone complaining about this...

It seems that this kind of grease is most suited for metal surfaces. However, the X52 has plastic parts. It can damage the plastic parts. I would recommend using a different grease, one that is safe for plastic like 'Teflon'. I had a quick look but I think the grease you used is for machines, enginens and tools. I do not recommend it on plastic parts.

Me siento mucho. You should try a PTFE grease. Or a Teflon grease. The thicker the better. And remove the old grease first. Anything with oil or silicon in it can damage plastic parts. I used this for greasing my Warthog Joystick. (it is plastic inside!!!) It is expensive. I think you can get something similar and cheaper if you look for it.

Tenia un X52 también. Son buenas. Espero que puedan resolver el problema. ;)

Ok, I think I got it now...I need something with PTFE and as thick as possible...are those good examples of what I should buy??:

I think the first one from here is the best. http://lubricantesygrasas.com/es/60-slippery-white-grease-c1-grasa-blanca-con-ptfe.html

It is very expensive tough. The second one I can not find a technical description of the properties of the grease on the website. It should be the same. But I would go for the item from lubricantesygrasas.com. Maybe if you look a bit more, you can find something more cheaper.

I am not an expert. That is why I want to see some technical description. I want to know the properties of the grease. Avoid anything with mineral oil or silicone based.

I think you need something that is specified for use with plastic.

Your second choice for instance shows a bicycle chain, I would stay away from that one.

The important thing is not the name PTFE in itself, but what thinner has been used with it.

If the thinner is based on mineral oils (often the case for use with metals) then it is unsuitable for use with plastics.

The mineral oil will soften or dissolve the plastic.

I bought this one for my Warthog stick, it was recommended by people who used it, and is specified for use with plastic or plastic/metal:

System specs:

Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440)

Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use

Ok guys!! many thanks both!!...I will try to find something of that in any local shop first...hope to find anything like that...will come back to report results:thumbup:

Btw...do you think there could be any serious problem if there is a little bit of the previous grease in the plastic/shaft??? its quite clean now but I guess there should be yet a little bit of it in some parts that are unaccesible unless you disasemble the stick...

Hi again guys!

Well, I wanted to share with you what I have find to be a great solution...after a couple of shops where couldnt find what I wanted, back at home I read in frontier forums about using chapstick, yes chapstick:) and then I though that it was very thick and incredible slippery sooo, why not give it a chance??...with my finger dropped a bit arround the lower side of the shaft under the "ufo like" metal piece because in my stick at least seems to be the problematic one and............wow!!!!!....instantly with a couple of pulls the stick has became butter smooth, and I mean I can move the stick and then stop and then continue perffctly :beer:and the best thing is then I though I could clean the little excess in the shaft and even then its perfectly smooth!!!!! So basically now its totally DRY and clean so no noises, no stickyness nor dust and still perfectly smooth! !!! And just by borrowing my mothers chapstick :D...also looks like it will last quite a bit!

Im not sure if it can harm, but I dont think so as its silicone if im right and its such an small amount what you need...damn! I even cleaned it then and not applied any amount in the plastic parts!!!!!

So what do you think guys??? I think is a GREAT and cheap solution...

Chapstick... really... I would never have guessed that. It might never work for greasing in other parts of the joystick. But I'm glad it works for you!

And it is great for your lips as well!
