Jacks Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Once DCS 2.0 is fully released, will we be able to tweak the settings for each map or will we have one setting which will be used for all? Mainly I am thinking of the water setting since I use medium or high in 1.5.3 and low in Nevada due to the lack of water but I thought that dispite this, the water is still rendered across the whole map under the terrain. This means that if we have one common setting, setting water to high for the Black Sea or straits of Homuz could cause lower than desired FPS in NTTR with no visual benefit. DayGlow Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Since LOMAC people don't seem to understand that if you can't see the water, it isn't being rendered. It is the base layer of the map, but it's not like your GPU is spending any resource on rendering waves you can't see. It to use less resources to have a single large layer that the terrain is put on top of vs adding complexity of occuling both terrain and water along the coastline. Drag0nWIng Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Caucasus will upgrade to t4 terrain engine in the future, so when the 1.5 merge into 2.0, it will have the same engine as nttr. In that way, I think you don't need to worry about it.
Jacks Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Dispute whether or not it is renders across the whole map, different maps will in my opinion benefit from different settings for example in straits of Homuz, water on high will be a priority over terrain textures where as in NTTR it will be the opposite. I don't want to have to change the settings each time I use a different map.
