Kye Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hello all. I could be wrong, but I think the elevator trim wheel may possible be bugged. If I trim the aircraft to be TH (Tail Heavy?), the wheel goes towards the NH arrow direction. Likewise, trimming for NH (Nose Heavy?), the wheel rotates towards TH. Is this wrong or right? It seems to be a bit counter intuitive. Reversing the input allows the wheel to rotate in the direction you would expect (or what I figure to be correct) but the trim tabs still do the opposite. Can anyone confirm whether I am right or wrong at all?
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) If you're looking, from the outside, for the elevator trim tab, it'll move "opposite" of what you set, and that's correct.. Trim nose heavy, means the elevator must be forced down, hence the trim tab will move up, and trim tail heavy, the elevator will be forced up, hence the trim tab will deflect down ... Kye Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Ahh interesting. So the trim tab puts the load on the elevator, which in turn brings about the pitch change. Many thanks for the info. No bug to report then. :)
