Jammer Explained?

Can someone explain how the Jammer works?

Well, it is quit easy. At least as far as I have tried it only works in one mode:

You move all the switches not related to flare release to the "up or on" position. Then it takes a minute or so to warm up.

 

For example moving towards a Hawk SAM site this will reduce the distance at which the Hawk launches the first missile by about 4-5km.

By the way, does it automatically chaff and flare?

No, it doesn't seem to work properly at the moment.

 

I've been trying to test it and figure out how/if it works and as far as i can tell it only seems to have very basically simulated jamming like the flaming cliffs aircraft.

No, doesn't work yet apparently. Probably will be fixed at one point.

I guess that is all what we will get. I don't expect that any more advanced stuff will be implemented anytime soon.
