linebacker Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I own a Gigabyte P55W V5 laptop, i get just over an hour of single player gaming on DCS 1.5 which is terrible, does anyone know if the the new graphics engine in DCS 2 improves laptop battery life? Also is it possible to have DCS 1.5 and DCS 2 installed on the same machine? Thanks
Rangi Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Not surprising you get short battery life. Playing DCS your CPU, gpu and fan will be working flat out, 2.0 will not change that. Yes you can have 1.5 and 2.0 installed at the same time. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.
linebacker Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Thanks mate, ill download v2 as well then. Shame about the battery life though. Thanks for your reply.
BitMaster Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 FYI: I also honestly dont think that your firmware and bios in both GPU and CPU are on full speed mode when on DC instead of AC. I owned and still own gamer laptops, Asus and Alienware and none of them goes full bore on DC, only AC. linebacker Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 It actually runs pretty good, i had a problem with throttling after 30 mins of gameplay on my old laptop, this one no sign of that just i expected more out of the battery.
