streakeagle Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Contrary to the manual, I leave the gyro sight enabled for air-to-ground strafing with the guns. As with rockets and bombs, I hold the electrical interlock button in until I am pretty close to stable on the descent line to the target, release the interlock, then smoothly move to get the sight on the target. I am hitting with almost laser precision. Trucks, AAA, and even light armor usually get smoked in single passes with relatively short bursts. I also use only 2 guns at a time to extend firing time. I am not quite as accurate with rockets, but not too bad. It usually takes me 2-4 rockets to hit a target, but when I am down to one rocket and get in close, I usually get the job done. I still haven't figured out how to consistently get bombs to go where I want whether using auto or manual techniques. I typically hit a little short. I really, really want to kill that diesel sub in the First Jet Strike Fighter mission. It seems impervious to 0.50 cal and I can't get my bombs close enough. The AAA that surrounds it... dead meat! I can't seem to get my wingmen to engage the sub. Since I take care of everything else for them, you would think the least they could do is empty their bombs and rockets into the sub.
