Andryl Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Hello everyone, I haven't flown the mirage for a couple of weeks, but yesterday evening I decided to try again in Nevada skies. So I followed instructions as per Chuck's guide: - Done all preflight checks (fly-by-wire settings, auto slats,...) - Set to ON battery and alternators - Set ignition/ventilation selector to VENT - Fire extinguisher set to OFF - Set low pressure fuel pumps to ON - Set fuel pump to ON - Pressed the ignition switch But at this point the engine didn't spool up at all (and, if I remember well, the Engine starting light was alread lit).:( Has something changed with last update or am I missing something? I'm quite sure that this procedure worked flawlessly last time I flew the Mirage. TheSnark Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Make sure the throttle on the left has not advanced beyond idle cutoff, if it is slightly forward click on the red button right next to the throttle, sometimes mine starts a bit forward so I tend to check the throttle before anything else. Also note that Chuck's guide is outdated and is only useful for a quick primer I've discovered. Can't blame him really since the aircraft is constantly being updated.
mattebubben Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Are you sure the Throttle is in the Idle/off Detent? (And if its not in the Idle Detent click on the Red off button to the Right of the Throttle to bring it back into the detent)
Andryl Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Mmhhh, it could be: I'll check it! Thanks! ASUS Z170 PRO Gaming || i7x6700K@4.6GHz || Noctua NH-U14S || Corsair16GB DDR4 - 3000MHz || Asus Strix GTX-1080 TI-11GB || TrackIr 5Pro || Saitek x-55 Rhino || Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals || Win10 pro

TheSnark Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Step 15 in the PART 4-START-UP PROCEDURE, is supposed to be the Fuel Cutoff and ought to be closed(cover down) during the start-up. It looks correct in the pictures though so maybe it was just a error in the writing. In step 14 I always put in on D or G and not VENT since the Engine Start sequence in the official manual put's is as "G or D as required". Anyway, I have no idea how valid my steps are compared to how you have written it down, I might just be going about it the wrong way but achieving correct results.

I confirm that for first part of start up you need to use that red button to make sure throttle is back full
Azrayen Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I disagree PiedDroit. VENT (ventilation) ; engine is spooled (a little) but no start plug ignited (and no fuel delivered). G or D ; select which start plug will be used for ignition (ground start). VENT/G/D is correct.

I thought I read something different, it was a while ago.
Deezle Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I never touch the vent switch and never have any trouble starting the Mirage. Battery on, fuel pumps on, open the cover and push the button, works every time.
