nomdeplume Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Just did a mission where I used most of my fuel (about 700 kg left when I reached the tanker). Still had the (empty) centreline tank attached. As soon as I made contact and started taking fuel, the conf warning light enabled (I was in A-A mode). Thought that sounded like a good idea to change it to Stores mode anyway, so I flipped it. I only refueled to about 2,500 kg, which should not be enough to start filling the external tank. Center "RL" indicator light on the fuel panel remains on, indicating the centre tank is empty, as expected. However the CONF warning light logic still thinks I should be in stores mode, not A-A. Just in case it's relevant, I had no other stores remaining at all. Mission loadout was standard 2x S-530 and 2x R-550 plus centreline fuel, but all four missiles (and all cannon ammunition) had been expended.
Frederf Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 AAR cannot fill external tanks in any case. For certain common configurations the config will insist on being charges mode. I believe no external stores and full internal fuel is one of those. A/A if I remember correct requires having slightly less than 100% internal fuel even if carrying nothing else.
Frederf Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Hi Frederf, unless you have data on both, neither statement is quite correct. You can refuel external tanks, in additional having 100% internal fuel AA is fine. Even an empty center external tank suggests AA. All other fuel tanks and AG stores situations requires STORES/CHARGES mode. Sorry I am remembering an earlier version. Just now I check: 100% internal fuel 4x missile, empty tank: A/A 4x missile, full tank: charges 4x missile, no tank: A/A no external: A/A Makes sense to me.
nomdeplume Posted June 1, 2016 Author Posted June 1, 2016 All other fuel tanks and AG stores situations requires STORES/CHARGES mode. I've noticed the rocket pods suggest AA mode. They are quite small compared to other A-G stores and are fitted on the same stations that carry the A-A missiles, so perhaps this is correct and the pods can handle 9G?
