Guest Cali Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Are you serious? 1. speed lock/unlock 2. does a scripted cobra, you have to be under 500kph 3. sets you in the take-off position on the carrier (for the 33) 4. just what it says increase/decrease your radar 5. changes the modes on your rwr (search radars/locked radars) 6. changes your radar between radar warning system (RWS, identifies the typr of radar system that is radiating) and track while scan (TWS, allows you to track several targets). 7. Lets you fire your missile/weapon before distance to target is less then 85% of the missile you have selected. Read the manual it as a ton of info for you to soak up. Go to your start menu the n programs, find lock on and you will see flight manual.
Red Hammer Posted September 5, 2006 Author Posted September 5, 2006 Sorry, I still don't understand Answer 4 and Answer 6, Can you give me more detail? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
S77th-konkussion Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 This is being overly simplistic- #4 On the F15- you can choose between a 30 & a 60 degree "scan zone" of your radar antenna. These numbers are off your nose- left & right. The main benefit of reducing the area that is being scanned is faster updates of the contact's position. You will still have to aim the antenna's range & elevation for complete coverage. #6 RANGE WHILE SCAN. The default Beyond Visual Range (BVR) search mode. Allows for multiple tracking, but NOT multiple targeting. You can see em- but you can't target more than one at a time. This mode constantly UPDATES THE ACTUAL POSITION OF WHATEVER IT SEES. Once you confirm a hostile target- you can proceed to target the bandit and you may employ any medium range missile against him. AIM-7's are SEMI active- you MUST guide this missile to the intercept until it hits or misses. TWS (TRACK WHILE SCAN.) Varies from plane to plane. For the f15- you are getting an idea where a series of targets are based on last known aspect & trajectory- it is not as quick to update. This mode DOES NOT CONSTANTLY UPDATE THE POSITION of a series of aircraft. However when conditions are ideal- you may target a series of bandits and employ an AMRAAM AIM-120 against the targets simultaneously. You may NOT fire a semi active missile AIM-7 from the F15 in this mode. This mode & engagement is most effective against non maneuvering targets. A flight of small, nimble fighters (that are aware of your presence) are nowhere near as likely to take multiple hits. TWS takes on a whole different meaning in the russian birds. It makes you wonder what the point of even having it is. I wonder if this wasn't just made up for LOMAC. Basically it allows for multiple tracking but only single targeting. The benefit is that it does not set off the radar warning in the opponent's cockpit until you are -theoretically- a lot closer and switch to STT (targeting mode) and mail him 40 kilos of semi-active goodness. Hopefully-before he has a chance to fire 3 active missiles blindly in the general direction of your radar spike. :music_whistling: Some of your questions have different answers for different planes- or -only apply to a specific plane. Basically- you have some studying to do on your own. :book: :book: :book:  [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Guest Cali Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Red Hammer did you read the flight manual yet? That will tell you everything you need to know. It's over 200 pages so enjoy.
